Chartwell


This was the home of Sir Winston Churchill. “Now owned and run by the National Trust, it is one of the most visited sites that the NT own. Originally purchased by Sir Winston in 1922 & used by the family until the expense became too much. So, a group of his friends and admirers purchased the property for the Trust on the understanding that Churchill and his wife, Clementine Churchill could live there for their lifetimes. Lady Churchill presented it to the Trust immediately after Churchill’s death in 1965.” Read the full story here

Flowers in the garden.












This is the view from the gardens over the Weald of Kent. The Battle of Britain was fought over this countryside and I guess it could have been seen by Sir Winston from the terrace I took this shot from. See the full story here
