Porthtowan Sunset, One Last Time.

Day 10, this is my last day at Porthtowan Beach & my last sunset, not as strong as some of the early days but subtle & just as much fun to shoot.

So, ten days and ten sunsets, what have I learned from shooting the same subject repeatedly? First every day is different, the sunsets are very colourful & some days the colours are more muted, the light was ever changing. The beach looks different every day, first there is more to shoot due to the times of the low tides changing about one hour per day. Then the activities are different, sometimes there are more people on the beach doing different things. There are always different shots to be had. As for the daytime stuff, well due to these exceptional weather conditions giving these beautiful sunsets the light was very strong and full of contrast, so I could not wait to get back to the beach each day.

Renting a cottage a few yards from the beach allowed me to be there at the right time. This was a great holiday.

The end of the day.

Another day, another sunset. The weather has been great for sunsets but not so good for daytime shooting. Anyway I am back on the beach for another go, this time with my f2.8 24mm-70mm. The afterglow died very quickly today, so an early supper.

There she goes, I never get tired of seeing it happen.

Beach Life at Porthtowan

Today the beach took on a different look at sunset. As the sunset approached there was a thick band of cloud on the horizon, just where the sunset was happening which gave some great colours but as the sun sank there was very little afterglow. So it was an early evening for tea. Lots of people out today so I did a fair amount of people photography.

I love German Shepherds, they are a very intelligent dog and very loyal. This one and the owner made a great pair.
