Pasque Flowers Royston

Carol and I took a walk out to Royston to see the Pasque flowers. This year’s display seems a little stunted probably due to the colder weather. Whilst I was shooting the flowers I came upon an Emperor moth, it was behaving in a very sluggish way again maybe the cold was not to it’s liking.

Pasque Flowers second visit.

This was my second visit this year to the Pasque flowers at Royston. I decided to bring my 70-200 lens to try and get some much tighter depth of field. I also wanted to shoot on a day with much flatter light. What I had not considered was that these flowers remain in a closed or semi closed condition in less intense light conditions. Anyway, these are some of the shots from this visit.

Pasque Flowers & Cowslips

Today I went looking for the Pasque Flowers on Royston Heath. I had been told about this little mauve flower a week or so ago by a local I had met whilst walking on the heath. Unfortunately, the flowers are well past their best so, I will return next year.
