Blists Hill in Colour

This is just a few shots in colour that I felt worked better than the monochrome of my previous posts.

We enjoyed our couple of days spent at the village and the good news is that we now have tickets that will allow us entrance to all ten museums for the next year, so we shall return next spring when the days are longer and the light is better. By the time we next visit the Iron Bridge should be finished and unwrapped ready for another two hundred thirty years of use.

I have three other posts from this visit, they can be seen Blists Hill People 1
and Blists Hill Buildings and Blists Hill People 2

Blists Hill Victorian People 2

This is my third post from our visit to the Blists Hill Victorian museum.  There are ten different museums located within a five mile radius of the main museum. One ticket allows entry to them all.

There is something very raw and beautiful about looking at very early photography. The strong contrasts, short on half tones with blown-out highlights. The fixed poses of the people, with very stern faces, along with that slightly soft-focus look & a small amount of movement in their pose. All of this was due to the limitations of their equipment & materials. I was trying to get this effect with my modern gear.

I have three other posts from this visit, they can be seen Blists Hill People 1
and Blists Hill Buildings. and Blists Hill in Colour

For me this first shot captures the Victorian pose, thanks to the person knowing exactly what was needed.
