Dungeness

Day two of our holiday was forecast to be a very bright sunny day so we set off to Dungeness. The beach is renowned amongst photographers for being very photogenic. Over the years the fishing industry has abandoned a number of old fishing boats and huts on the foreshore, these make good pictures. I would like to return at some point and try doing some sunrise or sunset shots.

Emmett Gardens

Day one of our two week holiday in South East England, we were based in the London Borough Bexley which is very close to all of the major roads & the motorway network in Kent so it was very easy for us to get to a number of the major places of interest.

We started off at the National Trust’s Emmett Gardens. Located near Sevenoaks there are a few good views over the Weald of Kent. The house is privately owned and not open to the public.

These two people asked me to take a couple of shots of them with their iPhone, so I also took a couple of shots on my camera and promised to put them up on my blog, I hope they find them OK.

Finchcocks

I visited Finchcocks Musical Museum in August 2015 and I have just heard that the museum has closed down early this year (2016). I was kindly given permission to take my tripod in and take photos of their collection, unfortunately I was not happy with the results so I did not post any photos of this visit. I had intended to pay another visit this year and do a better job. In view of the fact that the collection has been sold and therefore I guess it is unlikely to be seen as a collection again so I am putting up my images in this post, warts and all. I am sorry but I have not collected the names of each instrument.

When I visited there was a recital in progress so I had to be very quiet and as this is a very old building with a very large collection I found this very difficult to do.

A Google search for “ Finchcocks” will give you the full story.
