Studio portrait training day

On Sunday 18th January I attended a one day training course on studio portrait photography. These shots were taken on the course and are my stumbling first steps in posing a professional model. Now both the models, Bernadette & Dani are very professional and left to their own devices slip silently and quickly from one pose to the next as fast as the strobes flash but our tutor had instructed them to do nothing unless we had called for it, now I found this very difficult. We covered three different styles of modern studio photography. I am looking forward to next month’s course on lighting.

CCC Studio Day

This year I joined my camera club’s portrait group, we have recently started to use a professionally run studio using professional models with the intention of improving our portraiture skills. Although this is my third visit to this studio, this is the first full meeting of the CCC portrait group held at this studio in Newmarket on Saturday 17th.

Studio Photography

I am continuing my voyage into studio photography, so last night I paid my second visit to the professionally run studio in Suffolk I attended last month. This was one of their regular club nights they had three professional models for us to work with.

Wimpole Hall Winter Festival

At Christmas time each year Wimpole hall opens part of the house to give a taste of how the members of the household, both above & below stairs enjoyed this annual celebration.  The National Trust allows photography on some of their properties but for good reason without using a flashgun or a tripod so photographers have to resort to using a high ISO (increasing the sensitivity of the camera) this creates a number of problems for the photographer which I have attempted to reduce, so the quality of these shots is not as high as I would like. I would also like to thank the staff and the volunteers for the cooperation.
