G-IRTY At Duxford

Now here is some good news. In twenty days from today (16th July) a 1943 Vickers Supermarine Mark 9 Spitfire will start a venture to be the first Spitfire to fly around the World. This aircraft is a survivor of 51 combat missions. Now in her new polished aluminium finish she is ready to go.

I was fortunate to be at Duxford yesterday when she was out and in the air.

Unfortunately, she took me by surprise so my shots are not as good as I would have liked but she is very special.

Way to go, G-IRTY. The full story can be seen here.
