Eagle Heights

We spent a full day at this raptor centre in this beautiful part of Kent. They put on a very good flying display with a very wide variety of different birds. I shall return in the near future and see if I can get photos of some of their large birds.

Knole Park

I have just returned from a short holiday in Kent so the next few posts are from my various days out.

Our first day was a visit to the National Trust's house and country park of Knole near Sevenoaks.
The grounds are “Kent's last medieval deer park and are home to 350-strong wild deer herd. They're descendants of those hunted by Henry VIII who roam the 1000 acres of parkland year-round.”

Marks Hall Gardens & Arboretum

From August 1st - 30th Marks Hall Gardens, Coggeshall, Essex will be having a sculpture exhibition in their gardens. I was able to visit last Saturday for a preview of some of the major exhibits. Exhibition Details.

Houghton Mill

Saturday was a very hot and sticky day so Carol and I took a short trip to the River Ouse Huntingdon for a short stroll along the river bank and a visit to the water mill now owned and run by the National Trust. The volunteers who run this mill are very helpful and full of good information.
