Eltham Palace Gardens

A few shots from our recent visit to the palace gardens. We enjoyed the "Lazy Sunday Jazz" held on the lawns on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Eltham Palace is just a short distance from Central London.

Dungeness

I visited this beach a year ago and took a number of shots of the old decaying boats, machinery and huts. So I decided to have a second go again this year. This is very much an exercise in monochrome, old subjects lend themselves to this approach but due to the very poor contrasty light it overcomes the worst of the problem. Last year's post can be seen here.

After my visit, I was researching some information and I became aware of some restrictions being implemented by the governing body of the beach. Dungeness beach is privately owned by EDF Energy and is an SSSI. There has been some poor behaviour by a few photographers visiting the area. One crew had caused the destruction by fire of a boat by using a flare or smoke bomb as a prop.  So, the governors have started to implement restrictions on photography. I have contacted the manager of the area and in simple terms any professional photographers or students must get a permit, for details see here. Camera clubs & groups are welcome but they should contact the manager before turning up, Owen Leyshon at the Romney Marsh Countryside Project details can be found here. Individuals are still welcome as long as they use common sense but may be approached by the warden.

The shot below I believe is the boat that was set on fire but I am not a hundred percent certain.
