Heybridge Basin

Some street photography at the seaside.

I observed these two enjoying the view and each others company without saying a word.

Layer Marney Tower

Layer Marney Tower is a beautiful Tudor building surrounded by formal gardens and parkland with magnificent views to the Blackwater estuary. Situated between Colchester and Maldon in Essex, the house was built around 1520 by Henry, 1st Lord Marney.

Flatford Mill

Today’s sortie was to Flatford Mill, made famous by John Constable’s The Haywain. This location for a photographer is without a doubt full of chocolate box or postcard type images, however in spite of this I had a good day trying to capture these few shots.

St Albans Cathedral

The weather today was very overcast & wet so I took my camera to St Albans Cathedral, this gave me a chance to play with some low light & HDR post processing.

Whilst I was visiting the cathedral the St Albans Bach Choir were rehearsing for an evening performance of the African Sanctus. One of their members asked me to take a few shots for them. I have a number of different shots but for this Blog I have chosen these two.

Just over the road from St Albans Cathedral is this wonderful Art Deco building, originally designed as a place to exhibit flowers now part of the Café Rouge chain.
From a photographers point of view the excess of street furniture is spoiling our enjoyment of these attractive buildings, accepting that some of the signs and paraphernalia are essential I believe a lot of this could be removed.

Pactice day at Silverstone.

My son and I had tickets to visit the practice day for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The weather was appalling but I managed to take 500 shots, lots of multiples. It is very difficult to get a good place so you are confined to the stands the only place with an unobstructed view, you are expected to remain seated so not a lot of freedom to change position. Lots of spray, very wet, the rain constantly landing on the lens, very difficult conditions, it took an age to get into the track but once I arrived I had a great day, I would not have missed it for the world.
